Following the release of the film's official trailer back in October, Columbia Pictures has today released a new red band trailer for their upcoming The Grudge sequel/reboot, which will bring the curse to theaters on January 3rd, 2020.
At the turn of the new millennium, J-horror was all the rage, and so were the Americanized remakes... Of course, the American iterations never really lived up to the quality of their Japanese counterparts, with the first Ring film being the only decent exception.
While the J-horror craze is all but dead here in 2019, next year’s Grudge will be returning one of the most popular and iconic properties back to the big screen in the U.S., and hopefully making more of a splash with fans than Rings did back in 2017.

In an interesting move by Sony, Nicolas Pesce's (The Eyes of My Mother, Piercing) Grudge re-remake is now going to hit theaters 2 month early next summer, on June 21st, as opposed to August 19th. Giving the film a playdate with Woody and Buzz in Toy Story 4.
