Back in 2015, MTV reported that they were working on rebooting the ultra violent claymation series "Celebrity Deathmatch," an ultra violent claymation series that ran from 1998 to 2002 that featured iconic celebrities fighting to the death in hilarious and brutal fashion.
Years have gone by with no news on the reboot, but that changes today! The Hollywood Reporter has broke the news that MTV is still rebooting the series with Ice Cube set to executive produce and host!
“We’re excited to grow our partnership with Ice Cube and Cube Vision to reimagine this fan favorite,” said MTV president Chris McCarthy. “Deathmatch was the meme before memes, and remains a hot topic on social media and will be a smart, funny way to tackle the over-the-top rhetoric of today’s pop culture where it belongs — in the wrestling ring.”
The site notes that a network currently isn't attached but MTV studios are currently presenting the series to streaming, cable and broadcast networks.
Series creator Eric Fogel will also executive produce.
