In Case You Were Worried, Chucky Can Say Fuck On SYFY

Yesterday brought news that Don Mancini's Child's Play series had finally found a home at SYFY, with "Channel Zero" creator Nick Antosca producing.

“I’ve long wanted to bring Chucky to television and Syfy is the perfect network for us,” said Mancini. “The show will be a fresh take on the franchise, allowing us to explore Chucky’s character with a depth that is uniquely afforded by the television series format, while staying true to the original vision that has terrorized audiences for over three decades now.”

And it appears that Chucky is in good hands at SYFY as he'll be able to curse like a sailor on the television network, and that includes dropping f-bombs.

Antosca took to Twitter yesterday to reassure concerned fans on the matter. Chucky will indeed be able to say the word "fuck" in the SYFY series, which suggests he won't be toned down when making the transition to the small screen. Most viewers will have probably already noticed that SYFY has already been allowing such language for quite some time now.

As Buzzfeed explained last year, “Syfy declined to put an executive on the phone to discuss the change in the internal rules, but a spokesperson said that when language — “fuck” specifically — is deemed important to the style or plot of a show, Syfy and USA now allow it. Any show with “fuck” airs with the TV-MA guideline, denoting that the program is meant for adult viewers.”
