Tonight we're saddened to learn of the passing of prolific actress Julie Adams (born Betty May Adams). The news has been confirmed by co-star and surviving creature actor Ricou Browning and on Adams official website. She was 92.
Adams portrayed damsel-in-distress/the creature's love interest Kay Lawrence in The Creature from the Black Lagoon, and is also known in the horror community for her roles in "Alfred Hitchcock Presents," "Night Gallery," Psychic Killer, The Killer Inside Me and Black Roses. She accrued nearly 150 acting credits throughout her nearly seven decade career.
At CineCon in 2011, Julie was honored with a Film Career Achievement Award. In 2012, she won the Rondo Award for the Monster Kid Hall of Fame at the annual Wonderfest in Louisville, Kentucky.
We extend our condolences to Adams' family and loved ones. The cinematic universe has lost another legend.
