Known for creating some of the most sick and twisted traps in cinematic history with their screenplays for Saw IV, Saw V, Saw VI, and Saw 3D, Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton also created more elaborate traps in The Collector and The Collection, the latter of the two released back in 2012. Although, news of a third film has been relatively quiet these past seven years, it's now been teased that a third film is moving forward!
Franchise star Josh Stewart, who plays the lead character of Arkin, took to Twitter this week to share a poster for The Collector 3, tweeted out with the simple caption: “Lock the door.”
Bloody Disgusting has confirmed news of the third film, revealing that Marcus Dunstan, who directed the previous two films, will also direct The Collector 3, with Dunstan and Melton co-writing the screenplay.
Stewart's Arkin was the only survivor of the Collector's sadistic onslaught in the first film, a maniacal killer who likes rigging up hellish traps to literally collect his victims, dead and alive. Stewart reprised his role in the sequel, teaming up with a group of mercenaries to take down the Collector. *Spoiler* The second film ended with Arkin collecting the Collector, and this new film will presumably pick up right after said conclusion.
This news comes just a few months after we learned that Dunstan and Melton are writing a screenplay for a new Final Destination movie.
Stay tuned for more updates.
