A hugely unexpected announcement came out of the Xbox E3 Briefing today, in which it was announced that we’ll be getting a Blair Witch game this coming Fall! The game will be a first-person, story-driven psychological horror game based on the cinematic lore of The Blair Witch Project.
Produced by Lionsgate, and developed by Bloober Team, the team behind Layers of Fear, the reveal trailer shows off some naturally creepy and weird ongoings in the woods near Burkittsville Maryland.
Here’s the synopsis:
"It’s 1996. A young boy disappears in the Black Hills Forest near Burkittsville, Maryland. As Ellis, a former police officer with a troubled past, you join the search. What starts as an ordinary investigation soon turns into an endless nightmare as you confront your fears and the Blair Witch, a mysterious force that haunts the woods…"
The game arrives on PC and Xbox One on August 30th. Given Bloober Teams' track record, we're thinking Blair Witch is in good hands.
