Seymour, Audrey and Orin are all heading back to the stage in an Off-Broadway revival of the beloved musical Little Shop of Horrors, Entertainment Weekly lets us know today!
New York’s Westside Theatre will host the revival this coming Halloween season, with Tony Award-nominated Jonathan Groff leading the cast as Seymour, who was played by Rick Moranis in Frank Oz’s 1986 movie adaptation.
Little Shop of Horrors follows Seymour a down-on-his-luck florist with a crush on his co-worker Audrey. When he discovers a mysterious – and voracious – plant, suddenly Seymour and Audrey are thrust into an epic battle that will determine the fate of the human race.
Emmy-winning actress Tammy Blanchard (Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows) will play Audrey, while Tony-winner Christian Borle (Something Rotten!) is set to portray Orin.
Tony-winning director Michael Mayer (Hedwig and the Angry Inch) will direct from Ashman’s original book.
The site notes, "Previews for the upcoming production begin on September 17, with opening night scheduled for October 17. Tickets are on sale now through November 24 only."
