After releasing John Carpenter's Escape from New York on Collector's Edition Blu-ray back in 2015, Scream Factory has now announced that the film's sequel, Escape from L.A., is now slated to receive the same celebratory treatment this April!
The national street date for North America (Region A) is April 28th, 2020.
The newly commissioned artwork you see pictured below comes to us from artist Hugh Fleming. This art will be front-facing and the reverse side of the wrap will feature the original theatrical artwork. The release will come guaranteed with a slipcover in its first three months of release.
The company teases, "new extras are in progress and will be announced on a later date (March timing) but expect it to be loaded. Also, we are working on trying to secure a new transfer of the film, so keep your fingers crossed!"
Expect more news on this Blu-ray in the coming months.
You can pre-order now via Scream Factory's website. The first 700 orders will receive an exclusive limited-edition 18" x 24" rolled poster of the exclusive new illustration.
"In a world ravaged by crime, the entire island of Manhattan has been converted into a walled prison where brutal prisoners roam. But when the US president (Donald Pleasence) crash-lands inside, only one man can bring him back: notorious outlaw and former Special Forces war hero Snake Plissken (Kurt Russell). But time is short. In 24 hours, an explosive device implanted in his neck will end Snake's mission – and his life – unless he succeeds!"
