After their "Dark Universe" failed, Universal went back to the drawing board to hatch a new plan for their future monster projects, and with Leigh Whannell's The Invisible Man hitting theaters this month, we're about to find out if they got things right this time around.
In addition to the recently announced Universal monster projects, Dark Army, Renfield, and The Invisible Woman, Deadline now reports that the studio will be developing another film, titled Monster Mash!
The "original musical film" will be helmed by Grammy nominated music video director Matt Stawski ("Side Effects"), who will make his feature directorial debut with the project. Will Widger will write the script.
Deadline notes that "the idea is being kept close to the vest," so plot details are nonexistent at this time. I'm really curious if the film will be based on Boris Pickett’s classic Halloween hit or if the title was pulled to use for the film. Regardless, I'm totally on board to see a musical featuring zombies,Wolfman, Dracula and his son!
Marty Bowen is producing with John Fischer serving as executive producer, both for Temple Hill Entertainment.
Stay tuned for more details!
