'Akira' Getting Limited Edition 4K Ultra HD Release This December

Earlier this month, we told you that Funimation would be bringing the new 4K restoration of Katsuhiro Otomo's Akira to select theaters on September 24th, and we've now learned the groundbreaking 1988 science fiction film will also be receiving a limited edition 4K Ultra HD release just in time for Christmas!


Funimation details, "Akira, the crown jewel of anime and science fiction, returns with remastered 4K visuals and remixed audio. In the future, Shotaro Kaneda and his motorcycle gang tear through Neo Tokyo, a city divided by growing tensions. But when caught in an accident, Kaneda’s friend Tetsuo Shima discovers a secret government project and receives psychic abilities beyond his control." Special Features Include:
