'Bad Candy' and 'Hail to the Deadites' to Screen at Virtual Frightening Ass Film Fest This Halloween

This year marks the 10th edition of the Frightening Ass Film Fest (FAFF); Chattanooga Film Festival’s seasonal festival held in and around Halloween, and this year it's going virtual!

Slated for October 30th and October 31st, FAFF will feature an exciting mix of short films, new indie features, and carefully curated cult classics. Organizers are also putting together a series of live events, similar to the events that made CFF’s virtual edition in May an interactive fan-friendly experience.

FAFF All Access Badges are available now for the price of $25 with individual tickets for certain films being made available closer to the event. Attendees will be able to access all films beginning 12:00am EST October 30th, and access ends 6:00am EST the morning of November 1st.

This yearly event functions as a fundraiser for the Chattanooga Film Festival, a 501c(3), with all proceeds benefiting the staging of the 2021 edition of the fest.

FAFF also marks the return of Chattanooga Film Festival collaborators Media Team and Silver Scream FX Lab along with the much-anticipated return of fan-favorite characters Bubz, Professor Morte and Guna, who will be on hand to host the weekend's live offerings.

Hosts Terry and Mary Beth interview writers, directors, and more about the films that got under their skin when they were kids and have them look back at the ways those films shaped them. Scarred For Life is a show that's brought us lots of joy this year! It's an honor to have Terry and Mary Beth join us for a special FAFF episode!

After taking time out of his busy schedule to talk about making The Stand with us back in May, we're incredibly excited to have the master of horror himself, Mr. Garris, joining us for another conversation about the enduring legacy of the film Hocus Pocus as well as his own gateways into the horror genre as a young man.

Commissioners Clay Keller and Ryan Marker are joined by special guest GM’s Clarke Wolf and Dylan Guerra (hosts of AMC’s The Walking Dead Universe on Twitch) for a FAFF 10 exclusive Live Wes Craven draft sure to forever change the way you think of the late master of horror’s filmography. Will Shocker finally get it’s due? Will the dog flashbacks of the contractually obligated Hills Have Eyes 2 be carefully explored and considered? Will Bubz show up? Tune in y’all!

If you've seen Clay Chapman perform at either of our last two editions of the Chattanooga Film Festival, then you already know he's indisputably one of the world's greatest living storytellers. The man managed to make us afraid of baby carrots (don't ask). The Halloween season is nothing without a good scary story, and we couldn't be prouder to have the mad genius that is Chapman on hand to tell us one.

Join CFF Fan Favorites Professor Morte, Guna, and of course, Bubz for a Halloween Special filled with madness and mayhem sure to put you in the Halloween spirit faster than doing pumpkin spice blow with the great pumpkin himself. Take our word for it.

Genre film historian, a national treasure, and CFF Audience Award-Winning filmmaker Rebekah McKendry joins us for a fascinating deep dive into horror cinema in a FAFF exclusive Nightmare University Lecture.

Ancient FAFF tradition dictates that for our FAFFter Party, we must offer a dark sacrifice of face shreddingly radical death metal unto the old gods. 2020 has been a dumpster fire of mythic proportions, and for our money, no band has helped ease the pain of this cosmic Shit show more than Ohio's 200 Stab Wounds. For our metalhead fans out there, get ready to meet your new favorite band. For those of you who've already spent some time with Piles of Festering Decomposition, the band's debut EP, you'll understand why we high-fived in our office when these dudes agreed to be a part of this year.

Celebrating the home video release of Andre Gower and Henry McComas love letter to the fans of The Monster Squad and also exploring the film’s enduring legacy as a gateway into the horror genre to so many of us we’re proud to have Andre and Henry join us for a special FAFF exclusive chat!
