Cradle of Filth Comic 'Maledictus Athenaeum' Announced By Incendium, Heavy Metal Entertainment

England’s worst-kept secret in extreme metal Cradle of Filth are already on track for a stellar 2021, as they recently announced the title of their upcoming thirteenth album as Existence is Futile. In addition, the band’s powerhouse vocalist Dani Filth will star in a demonic horror jam known as Baphomet, and as an occultist, no less. And if that wasn’t enough, the band is the subject of an upcoming gothic horror comic book series, coming soon from Incendium and Heavy Metal Entertainment.

Issue one is set for shipping this May, and Incendium had this to say about the release:

“In the ruined halls of the Maledictus Athenaeum lie occult histories, sealed records, and cursed artifacts – this unholy archive explores the far corners of Cradle Of Filth’s musical legacy, a vast universe of Ageless Vampires, Mythical Creatures and Vengeful Gods. The Countess, The Huntress, Lilith, The Manticore, and many more, will be revisited in stories from an all-star roster of comics talent from the pages of Heavy Metal Magazine and beyond.

Maledictus Athenaeum begins as a 5-issue series. The first print edition of each issue will be released as a prestige format limited edition collectible comic book, featuring cardstock covers, specialty foil treatments, glossy pages, and individual numbering. Each first printing will be limited to 2500 copies at $16.66, and available to order from https://www.Incendium.online/collections/cradle.

Even better, the distributors have announced two limited edition action figures. One of these is based around the Succubus which graced the cover of 2001’s Bitter Suites to Succubi, and the other is crafted in the image of the purveyor of Filth himself, Dani Filth.

Says Dani about his figure:

“To begin with are figures of ‘yours ghoulie’ Dani Filth resplendent in my onstage battle outfit; accompanied to war by the cruel, domineering Succubus from the Bitter Suites To Succubi album cover art, who is explored further in the first of many comic book adaptations to be unleashed in Maledictus Athenaeum. Both figures come delivered with classic action figure aplomb, whilst the comic book art is both visceral and evocative and is totally stunning.”

The specs for the Succubus and Dani Filth figures respectively read as follows:

This demonic seductress is a primal force as old as sin, a resourceful enchantress preying on the weak to enhance her power and taking great pleasure in their ritual sacrifice! Risen from the fires of Hell itself, this dark mistress wreaks havoc on the world, corrupting the souls of all she enslaves.
