Daft Punk to Score Dario Argento's New Giallo Film 'Black Glasses'

Daft Punk Dario Argento Black Glasses

Back in January, we learned that Italian maestro Dario Argento would be directing a new giallo film titled Occhiali Neri (aka Black Glasses), his first film since 2012’s Dracula 3D. His daughter and frequent collaborator Asia Argento is set to star in the film, and we've now learned it'll feature a score by none other than Daft Punk!

Speaking with Italian website Repubblica (translated and reported by The Film Stage), Argento just revealed revealed the involvement of the electronic duo.

"They are my admirers, they know all my cinema," Argento says. "They heard from French friends that I was shooting a new film and called me [to say], ‘We want to work with you.'"

He adds they will be sending him the first tracks soon, and that he hopes to begin filming Black Glasses later this year, whenever film productions are able to resume.

Argento also noted that the duo think his script is one of his "most interesting."

"It will be my return to crime films," Argento told Repubblica, dishing out some plot details. "It’s the adventure, in the nocturnal Rome, of a Chinese girl and child. In the second part, the escape takes them into the rocky, bushy countryside of Lazio."

The last soundtrack by Daft Punk was Tron: Legacy, which was released back in 2010.
