Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead's 'Synchronic' Dated for October 23rd Theatrical Release

Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, the filmmaking duo behind Resolution, Spring and The Endless, are back with their brand new sci-fi thriller Synchronic, which has this week been dated for an October theatrical release.

After acquiring the film out of last year's Toronto International Film Festival, Well Go USA will release Synchronic in both drive-in and traditional theaters on October 23rd. A Digital/VOD release is expected in January.

Here's where things get a little interesting though. Moorhead and Benson released a statement on social media following the film's release date announcement, encouraging their fans NOT to go to indoor theaters, due to enclosed spaces still being a hazard during the ongoing pandemic.

As sad as this may be, I've gotta agree with them. While I miss indoor theaters immensely, I just can't bring myself to visit them until all of this COVID-19 business passes.

They write, "Due to distribution arrangements that are out of our control, the release date of Synchronic into drive-ins and indoor theaters has been confirmed for October 23rd. But we want to be very clear: At the time of writing this, we personally wouldn’t go to an indoor movie theater, so we can’t encourage you to. If you can’t see Synchronic in a way that is safe for yourself and everyone you come into contact with, it will be available via Video On Demand in a few months as it continues its worldwide rollout."

The full statement can be found below.

In Synchronic, Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan play two New Orleans paramedics, whose lives are ripped apart after encountering a series of horrific deaths linked to a designer drug with bizarre, otherworldly effects.

Katie Aselton and Ally Ioannides also star.

The Endless producer David Lawson Jr. produced the film alongside Benson and Moorhead for Rustic Films. Benson also wrote the script.
