Back in May, it was reported that Universal were planning on tackling a new take on The Wolfman, with Ryan Gosling (Blade Runner 2049, Drive) set to star as the titular character/monster.
At the time of the project's announcement, the search for a director was underway, and Deadline reports today that Leigh Whannell (The Invisible Man, Upgrade) is currently in negotiations to helm the film!
The site also notes that "Whannell will also be writing the treatment for the film, based on an original idea of his own and inspired by the 1941 classic."
The Hollywood Reporter adds that the script by Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo features a "vibe that evokes Network (1976) and Nightcrawler (2014)," with Gosling being cast as an anchorman who gets infected.
Blumhouse has also official boarded the project and even retweeted the news of Whannell's involvement earlier today.
Stay tuned for more updates.
