Magnolia Pictures Have Acquired 'Rubber' Director's New Comedy 'Mandibles' for 2021 Release

Rubber and Deerskin director Dupieux is back with the surreal French comedy Mandibles, and we've now learned that the film has been dated for a 2021 release via Magnolia Pictures.

The company has acquired U.S. rights for the bizarre film, which was one of the most talked-about films at Venice Film Festival earlier this month.

"It’s really hard to make smart look stupid but Quentin Dupieux has managed the feat spectacularly," said Magnolia president Eamonn Bowles. "Mandibles had me howling. I wish I could have seen it in a packed theatre."

You can check out the new trailer below, via Screen International.

Mandibles' story revolves around Jean-Gab and Manu, two simple-minded friends who find a giant fly stuck in the truck of their car, so they decide to tame it and train it in order to earn a bit of cash.

Grégoire Ludig, David Marsais, Adèle Exarchopoulos, India Hair, Roméo Elvis, Coralie Russier and Bruno Lochet star in the film.

Mandibles was written, directed, filmed, edited and scored by Dupieux.
