"In 2003, we were told not to go into the woods. In 2021, we still haven't learned."
After acquiring the film back in November, Saban Films has today released the first trailer for director Mike P. Nelson‘s (The Domestics) new take on the Wrong Turn franchise, which was written by Alan B. McElroy, the writer of the original film, and looks miles more impressive than the last few franchise entries.
Entertainment Weekly, who exclusively premiered the trailer earlier today, states the film will premiere in theaters for one night only January 26th, 2021. Tickets for the premiere event will be available at Fathom Events and at movie theater box offices starting January 8th.
"Backwoods terror and never-jangling suspense meet when Jen (Charlotte Vega) and a group of friends set out to hike the Appalachian Trail. Despite warnings to stick to the trail, the hikers stray off course—and cross into land inhabited by The Foundation, a hidden community of mountain dwellers who use deadly means to protect their way of life. Suddenly under siege, Jen and her friends seem headed to the point of no return— unless Jen’s father (Matthew Modine) can reach them in time."
The trailer does a great job in teasing some of the film's gruesome kills/traps, which earned it an "R" rating for "strong bloody violence, grisly images and pervasive language."
Damian Maffei (The Strangers: Prey at Night), Bill Sage ("Hap and Leonard"), Emma Dumont ("The Gifted"), Valerie Jane Parker ("Greenleaf"), Chaney Morrow (Haunt) and David Hutchinson ("American Horror Story") also star.
Dylan McTee, Adrian Favela, Adain Bradley, Jeremy Ambler, Cory Scott Allen, Gary Ray Stearns, Rhyan Elizabeth Hanavan, Vardaan Arora, Mark Mench, Joshua Stephen Campbell, Jennie Malone, Brian James Fitzpatrick and Mark Angel round out the cast.
Robert Kulzer, Constantin Film, in association with James Harris, Tea Shop Productions, produced.
