Ari Aster's 'Midsommar' Gets An Earlier July Release Date

April 4, 2019

Originally set for an August 9th release, it was announced today via CinemaCon and A24's official Twitter page that Ari Aster‘s follow-up to Hereditary, titled Midsommar, will now be releasing on July 3rd!

The film centers on a Pagan cult festival that takes place once every ninety years, and despite the vibrant environment, it doesn't look like a fun place to be. Speaking of the color palette, unlike HereditaryMidsommar looks to feature a lot more brightly lit, daylight scenes - but rest assured, there's a very unnerving, sinister tone.

Midsommar stars Jack Reynor, Will Poulter and Florence Pugh with Vilhem Blomgren, William Jackson Harper, Ellora Torchia and Archie Madekwe.

“Pugh and Reynor will play a couple that travels to Sweden to visit their friend’s rural hometown for its fabled mid-summer festival. What begins as an idyllic retreat quickly devolves into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition at the hands of a pagan cult.”
