Netherrealm Studios is having its most dedicated fans of its flagship franchise play the waiting game. Recently, the studio announced the schedule for the remaining DLC characters’ releases. So far, we have had Shang Tsung and Nightwolf, and the leaks of some of the rumored fighters have panned out to be true.
On October 8, he will be back, as Terminator T-800 joins the fight. The Terminator is no stranger to guest appearances in video games, as he famously was a pre-order bonus in WWE 2K16, after making an appearance in a video package for Triple H’s WrestleMania entrance.
November 26 will see the banshee-screaming Sindel return to the franchise. Her last appearance as a playable fighter was 2011’s reboot of the franchise, but fans won’t have much longer to wait before the once-queen of Edenia is back in action.
On January 28, 2020, The Joker will make his third Netherrealm Games appearance, after back to back roles in the Injustice games. Perhaps the upcoming Joker film starring Joaquin Phoenix will bolster some hype for this release, though I can’t help but wonder why this release wasn’t pushed up in light of said film.
Finally, on March 17, 2020, the much-rumored Spawn will make his debut in the Mortal Kombat franchise. The Todd McFarlane creation is not a stranger to fighting games, as he was a bonus for Xbox players of Soul Calibur II. Hopefully, we’ll have a better status for the upcoming reboot film other than “trapped in development hell.”
Kombat Pack holders will gain access to the above fighters one week before the general public will.
Mortal Kombat 11 is out now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
