Barry J. Gillis' Ultra-Violent 16mm Gem 'Wicked World' Is Coming To Blu-ray From AGFA

September 10, 2019

In 1989, filmmaker Barry J. Gillis and friends renewed the world’s faith in Canada with the horror brainbomb known as Things. But that was only the beginning. Virtually unseen until now, Wicked World is not only Gillis’ 1991 follow-up to Things — it’s also a new form of genre anarchy, and it's coming to Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack this fall from the fine folks at AGFA (American Genre Film Archive) and Bleeding Skull!

Wicked World follows a dirty cop, named Grant Ekland, with a checkered past that endlessly haunts him. The love of his life was murdered by a serial killer named Harold, who has slaughtered a countless number of humans, in the city of Toronto. Harold who has been in a Mental Institution, for many years, is now set to be released back into society, and Ekland hopes for a final showdown with his arch enemy.

AGFA states that the film is "filled with metal riffage, gnarly ultra-violence, and experimental techniques, Wicked World feels like what would happen if Salvador Dali injected acid directly into his brain while staring at a Cannibal Corpse LP cover. This is a highly personal treatise on the toxicity of society from one of the most singular filmmakers in trash-horror history. If you survive Wicked World, you’ll never forget it."

"I Shot Wicked World in 1990, on 16mm Film, and somehow, almost 30 years later, the movie ended up in Joe Ziemba’s hands, who is the Executive Director of AGFA. Joe contacted me, and asked if I would be interested in having AGFA release Wicked Wrold, and of course, I jumped at the offer," said Gillis.

The body count in Wicked World is high, and die hard horror fans are in for quite the treat, when the film is released on November 12th. Pre-order your copy from Amazon today!
