December 23, 2019

Known for creating such classics as Deep Red, Suspiria, InfernoPhenomena, Tenebrae, and Opera, Italian maestro Dario Argento has given the horror genre some of its most beloved films, but what about his lesser known works?

With Four Flies on Grey Velvet, The Cat o' Nine Tails and The Bird with the Crystal Plumage all receiving some "definitive" Blu-ray love from various companies in recent years, it's down to pretty slim pickings when it comes to lesser known Argento films making the jump to Blu-ray, and they're about to get slimmer...

Scorpion Releasing and Ronin Flix have revealed that their bringing Argento's The Card Player, as well as his 1998 adaptation of Gaston Leroux's classic The Phantom of the Opera to Blu-ray for the first time!

In The Card Player, Dario Argento returns to classic form with this vicious thriller about a serial killer who taunts police with online video poker. But for every round the cops lose, a kidnapped girl is mutilated live via webcam. Now an Italian detective and an Irish forensic expert (Liam Cunningham) must race against time to trap the killer. The stakes are murder and the hunt is on for the psychopath known only as The Card Player.
